Subscriptions

I upgraded to the subscription module, but cant find where on the site I am able to register for subscription. Only a member registration is present. I tested registration with 2 different emails and I cannot find where potential subscribers can subscribe. After setting it up, I can view what the preview page looks like, but it is nowhere to be found when registering a new membership.. I then manually upgraded one of my accounts in management mode and that account still doesn't have level 2 access. How do you get a member to subscribe? Am I missing something? Getting confused and frustrated. I assume its a bug because everything else on spruz is so user friendly. I submitted a support ticket but haven"t heard anything yet. Help please.

  • Within the knowledge base of this site you'll find some pretty good documentation on the various pages and tools of your Spruz site. Here is a link to a published article regarding the member subscriptions module. Perhaps it will help some. Click Here

  • I'm having the same problem - this article doesn't help.

The problem is that the 'register' links on the site go to the standard registration page; when membership subscription is set up it isn't overriding the standard register function.  I think I can figure out a work around; but it would be great to know if there is a way to redirect the register link to the subscription sign-up.  I did try editing the login/register CSS by replacing the Login Menu Template for visitors of an open site from this: <href="/?page=login" class="login">Member Login</a><span class="divider"</span><ahref="/?page=login&cmd=register" class="register"><strong>Register</strong></a>  to ?page=base&cmd=signup" (replacing this - /?page=login&cmd=register") but it didn't work.

I'd love to know if there is a way to change the register link.

    Thanks,

    Christine

  • I am at the same point in (re)configuring the site as a Subscription site ~ did you all get this resolved? How does registration integrate with subscription?! THANKS!

  • I thought I had a way to handle this last night ... by putting a link to the subscription page on the registration page but apparently it doesn't work right because peeps have to be registered to subscribe apparently. Very frustrating. Have a support ticket in to hoping to hear ... anyone (else) out there with any help on this?

BTW, is there anyone on here with a successful subscription site?!

  • It does appear that people need to create an account/register before subscribing. There is a way to make it somewhat seamless though I believe.

There is a place within the management settings under the profile and registration category, that allows you to enter a url to redirect people to immediately after registration. Putting the subscription page link in that box, and then cutting off access to the rest of the site using access levels would seem to work nicely.

    Has anyone tried this yet?

  • I have a question about the paid access. I just moved my TruckerDate.com site here from Ning and I have members that have already paid for memebership while at Ning. I am making all my members free for now, but I want to grandfather all current members in for free for life when I go back to being a pay site again. I was able to do that with Ning, am I able to do that here?

  • When a member pays for a subscription to your site here on Spruz, it in turn sets their access level up to a level that is capable of seeing your paid content pages. So ultimately, the answer is yes, and you'd just need to make all current members set to the access level that you intend to use when you make your site a paying site again.

For example, by default, all members of your site start out as level one access level. You need to make sure that they are all set to level two, before you switch over to being a pay site, and then set the subscription level to 2 so that all new members signing up have to pay to become a level 2. It has to be done individually, so it's a good idea to take care of it as quickly as possible so you don't have to do it for hundreds of people all at once!
