Hi.

I'm trying to set up my website but i can't get any of the functions to work at all.

I click on Appearance and chose custom and it doesn't matter what i pick, when clicking on the color/etc boxes, nothing happens.

 

All i get is a message saying that "Site appearance previews cannot be shown in this area.

Please click the Home button in the upper right corner to see your appearance changes as you make there"

Why's this happening? As far as i know this shouldn't be happening.

I certainly haven't messed around with any settings that would prevent me from using the web-tool.

    Sounds like your in the area where you manage the pages and links, Your can only add pages, re-order the pages, or create links  in this area, trying to use the other tools simply will not happen, not suppose to either. You need to be on a normal page before trying to use those tools.

    No i'm on the home page i.e the front page.

    If it's not intended then why put the option there in the first place only to give you that error message? I'm just confused here.

    This used to be so much easier.

    click on manage site then wait until all the square boxes pop up it will say add a page delete a page page layout  and so fourth  You want to add a page first and click on add page always put the page title ( the name of the page you want it to be called and always remember to click save.

    It's the global options and such i'm trying to access i.e change the appearance of the home page which then changes all the other pages' appearances.

    Or do i have to add a home page first? Is that what you're saying? Cause that seems a bit odd seeing as there already is a home page.

    You'll probably want to add a URL so your fellow owners can look at the page and see what's happening...

    It sounds like you'll probably want to put in a support ticket so someone with backend access to your site can take a look at what's going on. As a general rule, if you are making a change to a page that  your normal site members would have access to: homepages, blogs, forums, ect... Then, you should be able to see the design changes made. If you can't, there may be a something going on that a tech needs to look at. If you are however on a page that only you would be able to see such as an admin related page.. the changes can't be previewed there.
