World Of Warcraft Classic is currently down for some players. The issues have been happening since around 11 AM EST in the United States. Blizzard has confirmed that the game is currently facing DDoS attacks and is working to fix the issues and get the game back up and running. Some WOW fans believe they have found the group behind the attacks. Earlier today a Twitter account named UkDrillas claimed credit for the DDoS attack, giving a 30-minute warning before many players began running into connection errors.

Blizzard didn’t confirm that this organization was responsible, but did announce that there were DDoS disruptions affecting some of its player base on Twitter.According to the chatter that followed from players on Twitter, the effects were widespread, and the group targeted more than just Classic servers eventually, hitting normal WoW servers too. Blizzard customer service tweeted seven hours ago (from the time of writing) to say: “All WoW Realms except Rattlegore are back online and stable. The investigation continues for that realm. Some players may experience persistent login issues until realm maintenance tomorrow morning.” And the company followed that tweet an hour later with a statement claiming that everything had been resolved: “Rattlegore is now stabilized as well.  Thank you everyone for your patience.”

It's a particularly unfortunate situation that both Blizzard and Blizzard's fans are having to deal with these DDoS attacks with the launch of World of Warcraft Classic. It's taken years for Blizzard to manage building World of Warcraft Classic and by all accounts players love it. Week one struggled with overpopulation and queue issues. Now that those are supposedly smoothed out, in come the DDoS attacks. It's an unfortunate situation all the way around.
