Spam registers

My site has been overrun with mass spam registering. Meaning bot or spammer or w/e it is, is register to my site and normally spamming in there blog section. I did recently change settings to approve all registering members to keep them from spamming but they still register on my site like crazy. I usually get around 3 or so spammers in about 3-5 days or so. I'm banning ip's as they come in but they don't seem to be reducing at all.

so i was wondering if anyone here had any ideas or got some ips of spammers they could give me to help remove this problem i have. The only option i can see at this time is to have the option that to register to the website you must be invited by a member. Problem is its a slow point in actually members registering that i want in. I thought IP Banning would fix it quick but it seems they aren't as stupid as i thought. My site is set to private so I'm really not sure how they are finding my site but they have it in their data base and are really going for it.

I did this to spammers when I was with another provider.

I left few spammer blogs & forum posts, but alter the title and description.

I create a category call "Worthless Spam Products"

Added a few of their spam posts which was move into this category, it was alter to reflect a bad image on their products.

    For example.

One spam blog title was - Cheap Nike shoes.

I change it to - Fake Nike shoes, you pay, we do not send

Their I.P, one of the spam link was left and the descriptions shorten, all topics were lock.
