Newsletters not getting through

Hi, I have about 36 members on my website and I became aware that some of them were NOT receiving the newsletters I sent out from the site.

Upon investigating with a couple of test messages asking people to let me know if they do receive them only about HALF seem to be getting through.

With about 18 effectively telling me they are NOT getting these messages I think it is likely that the problem is with the Newsletter software.

I've been unable to identify any pattern in the failures so far (I'm still working on it).

I don't think it's a 'Spam' identifying problem because one of my members with 2 different email addresses to the same account only receives one of the messages!

Has ANYONE else come across this problem or is there something I need to do to?

  • The first thing that I'd do is instruct those members on how to go to their profiles and take a look at their notification settings. When members register to your site, there is a check box that they have to check in relation to your news letters, and whether or not they will receive them. Once you've confirmed that they do have their notify settings adjusted so that they have opted in to the newsletter, try and send one out once more to confirm that their is still a problem. If there is still a problem, have them double check their spam folder. At times they do wind up there for various reasons. If you still find that you are having the same problem of people not receiving their news letters even though they have opted in to them, you'll probably want to submit a support ticket and see if they have any insight on the situation.

  • Hi Randy, yes I've checked all their profiles and have sent out emails both via the website and via my personal email client asking them to check their Spam folders.

    They all received my personal emails but about 10 are still not getting the ones via the website (none in the spam folders apparently, they just hadn't read their emails...) 6 are not getting anything at all and the other 4 have received some but not all of the website emails - there is no pattern that I can discern...

    If it was a 'paid site' I would submit a Support Ticket but it's not (yet... the number of members is still less than 50. Numbers are increasing but it's problems like this which may effect it's growth and my enthusiasm to continue with it...)

    Thanks for your suggestions though, it's helpful to know I'm not missing something obvious and that it's not a widespread problem I'm unaware of!

  • Hi! I am having the same problem. I am also having an issue whermy member and I are not receiving email notifications when members post. Has any one else experienced this? I have about 200 and many of them don't get any emails of activity going on with the my website....it's driving me crazy since I am not getting a response from any one at spruez!
