A heart attack occurs because one or more fat clots in the arteries that carry blood to the heart are blocked. Blood flow is blocked due to clotting. Lack of oxygen in the heart muscle leads to blood loss. If the blood flow is not corrected soon, the heart muscle stops. Most of the deaths due to heart attacks are due to clot rupture.
