How does one delete a category no longer needed under the Discussion Tab

I have a category under a the Discussion Tab. I want to remove it. I do not know how to go about this....I don't want to rename it, I just want it removed. Not really clear or easy on the site on how to do this when it is in edit mode. Please advise.

    If you want to add, delete, or manage your catefories for the discussions, you click the "add category" button. That will bring up a box that gives you the options to do all of the above.
