Seeing all the poo that EA got and deserved for their lootbox shit in Battlefront, I feel so thankful to GGG to have PoE as a great, free to play game.
But,I have spent more on this free game than even subscription games combined. I'm one of the people that framed the atlas from the supporter pack and have it proudly displayed above my PC area. Totally worth it. Love poe. Still waiting for that mirror drop tho
well the good thing is atleast GGG offers all the MTX at a later point so its a case of do i want to buy a few lootboxes get a few mtx at a much cheaper price than they would be or do i wait for a specific thing i want.
also bit more sensible in the aspect that many may have a few points lying around so getting a mtx or 2 is nice from the mtx boxes.
you also have fact they are transparent with the % chances to get each thing(in part due to china's laws though) makes it a bit less of a gamble.
end of day you also have the huge aspect of GGG's being pure cosmetic while EA has reached a point where the lootboxes are becoming the main thing in the game and are affecting the game design and mechanics in order to push you to buy lootboxes.
imagine GGG making the next class behind a rng lootbox where each skill point you had to get a lootbox to use but that class was able to have as many skill points as it wanted as long as you got it out of the lootbox. it would be game breaking and destroy all the mechanics in the game just for a cash grab.
I've spent significantly more on POE than on any other game.
However, this is only because of their fairly ethical business model, awesome updates, the awesome PR/love for their own game and the trust they've earned over the years.
