Do you mainline coffee or soda? Do you know where every Starbucks is in a 5 mile radius? Do you go to bed at night imagining and looking forward to your first cup of coffee in the morning? Yeah, been there. It took me a year to quit drinking coffee, I think I might have cried once or twice, not sure, its kinda fuzzy.Unfortunately for us coffee lovers, drinking coffee can wreck the body. Drinking coffee or caffeinated beverages causes the body to release stress hormones including adrenaline. This increases the body's blood pressure and blood sugar levels and while you feel alert, the more coffee you drink, the more anxiety you feel. When the effects of the coffee start to wear off, you start to feel fatigued and less alert, the blood sugar drops and this causes you to crave sugar.

The more coffee or caffeinated beverages we drink the more we need. The adrenal glands become fatigued and are not able to pump out as much adrenaline. The body is in a constant state of stress. Caffeine intake during the day can also disturb our sleep at night causing even more fatigue because you did not get a good nights rest.
Proper Nutrition The best way to get a good jump start on your day is to eat a healthy protein breakfast in the morning. Or drink a protein smoothie and add your favorite fruit(s). A good protein breakfast gives you energy and increases your metabolism during the day by as much as 30%. Complete sources of protein include Buckwheat, Quinoa, Hempseed, Soybeans(fermented), and blue-green algae including Spirulina and Chlorella. Other good sources of protein include free range eggs, fish, nuts and seeds and beans. Heavy fried foods, sugary desserts, etc., play a big role in reducing our energy levels. The meals we eat should be small. Eating a large meal drains our energy, because the body uses our stored energy to digest food.

To increase energy levels you should eat several small meals a day. At least 30% of your caloric intake each day should be from high quality protein. Snacks during the day, can include protein such as almonds or peanuts, hardboiled egg or sardines. Its important to have a healthy diet that includes whole grains, fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts,
Drink a glass of water when you get up in the morning and make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of pure water throughout the day. Dehydration causes fatigue (coffee, by the way increases dehydration).

Getting a good nights rest is essential. The body recuperates and repairs itself while you sleep. Rest restores energy levels and reduces cortisol levels elevated by stress.
Exercise If you don't already exercise regularly, you shouldn't over do it, because this will only cause your body more fatigue. A good way to start your exercise program is to walk regularly, yoga or Pilates at least 3 times a week. Exercise increases blood flow and circulation, which increases cardiovascular health and increases energy levels. Exercise also increases cognition.

Improper functioning Adrenal Glands, Thyroid Glands and Mineral deficiencies such as iron can cause fatigue. Have your doctor check gland function and mineral levels to assure all is well. Stress is a killer, quite literally. And it completely squashes the bodies energy levels. There are many things that can cause stress. Over scheduled - over worked - over tired... no duh (really, its a word - its in the dictionary). If you want to reduce fatigue levels you must find ways to reduce your schedule load. You also need to schedule time for yourself. Its important to rejuvenate yourself by making the time to do the things you enjoy.

Emotional Stress. When there are issues that are weighing us down such as money problems, relationship problems, job related problems, etc., these emotional stressors crash our body mentally and physically causing fatigue and even illness. While we may not be able to fix the emotional stressors in our lives, its very important to release these stressors by exercise, sleep, proper nutrition, meditation, and if need be, by seeking professional counseling as an outlet.Meditation
Take 20-30 minutes to meditate. Meditation releases stress and anxiety which causes fatigue and increases serotonin levels. The best and easiest way to meditate is to listen to alpha brain wave sound.

Being an energetic healthy person, requires a lifestyle change. What we eat and drink, our environment, how much sleep and exercise we get and the time we allow ourselves to rejuvenate ourselves doing something we enjoy, all play a pivotal role in giving us the daily energy levels we need.
