Assigning a Group at Registration

In the Settings >Manage Settings option there is a tab for 'Member Questions' where the member identifies their group.  Is there any way to add a link here that automatically 'assigns' or adds the member to the group itself?

  • I'm pretty sure that the answer is no, but I'm not 100% what you are referring to yet. Where are you seeing the place where the member identifies their group? Is it a question that you created custom or something maybe?

  • In the 'Settings' tab under 'Manage Settings" there is a side tab that says 'Member Questions' where you build category fields  and choose boxes that say 'required', 'ask at registration' and 'display on profile'.  when my member makes their choice, or checks the box that applies, I see the classification on their profile, but when I check my groups, the member is not showing as part of that group.  My group count does not go up.

i want my members automatically added to the group they check off at registration

  • Okay, so you are saying that you would like there to be a box related to groups that people can check when they sign up, and then after sign up they are automatically a part of that group right?

  • There aren't any settings within the tools right now that would accomplish what you are trying to do. You would likely need to do a bit of custom work to achieve an effect that is close. Spruz does some custom development work, and may be able to do things exactly to your preference regarding this. You can ask them in a support ticket how much it would cost to implement the system for you.

As a partial fix, you could just make the groups page be the page that everyone is redirected to after they have registered, and then maybe put a rich text editor element at the top of the groups page that says "Please join at least 1 group". Maybe that would work just as well for you.

  • thank you Randy, Im going to go with your 'partial fix' solution for now. that is a great and simple idea.  as my membership grows, if needed, I'll look into the custom design through support option.  Thank U Randy!
