We have included many updates to current systems in the latest set of
updates. One key area we have greatly improved is the site news.
Our site news system was due for an over haul. We have had the same news
system in place for over 3 years now and we decided this was the first area in
need of an overhaul. To keep up with the ever advancing web we have renamed the
news to Blog. In addition we have moved all news/blog management to the front
end. You can add the new bloging system that has been build from the old news
management by going to your page builder and adding a new page. You will see
site blog listed as one of your options.
In order to help clean up our back end interface we have elected to remove
the breadcrumb tool bar and the red tool box. We are now advancing towards
polishing our content system. Let us know your thoughts if you did find the
breadcrumb menu or tool box valuable in navigating the administration area.
I know I have said this many times in the past but it is important to us that
our users take just a few minutes to share their experience with using your
website. For the number of people that do use this system we receive a very
small amount of feedback. Remember support
us by providing your feedback.

How would you like to sell products right from your own website? Would it be
nice if it was all intergraded with our powerful backend? Well I have good news
for you! We have just released Spruz Shop a
new Ecommerce Shopping cart module. We hope this will be a powerful new feature
that many of your will enjoy!
With Spruz Shop you can list items and take
payment for them right from your website with ease. Currently the cart is fairly
basic and may have some bugs. We have a large features list that we have plan to
add to over the coming months to the shopping cart system. Please give us your
feedback about the shopping cart so we can
make improvements based on client demand. Before you can use the new shopping
feature you Store must be activated before they can be used.

Included in this update is a new smart menu that will appear to the left hand
side of the Admin Bar that keeps track of your most common pages you visit to
provide you with automatic quick links. We have fixed number of bug fixes and
site performance fixes.

As I've read through all the feedback we have been getting (yes we read them all, so if you see something that we can improve please let us know) one thing stands out above the rest: WE WANT MORE FREE THEMES! While we would love to be able to hand craft a free custom theme for each and every one of you, there seems to be no way that we could do this. For some reason all the graphic designers that we were able to find want some green stuff in exchange for all their work, go figure…
However we did not let that stop us. Getting interest from designers in the community about creating themes and Spruz support sites, we have been working on a way to get this organized and benefit everyone. As our first step toward this goal we have opened up a new forum on Spruz.com for everyone to post theme requests and for designers to interact, getting to know what you want.

At approx. 3:05PM EST we lost connectivity to a primary network in our Datacenter due to a faulty switch that manages 2 of our web servers, our primary mail server and one of our primary DNS servers.
As of 5:55PM EST we have replaced the switch.
At this time everything is running normally we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We have made several changes or fixes that most of our members have needed to
see or requested the most. This update includes features added from update .23 &
.24
Group Management
In this update we have made, some major fixes and updates to the Group
Management. The fixes include addressing a problem with missing group members
and members not being assigned properly.
For updates we have added text to the group properties box to make sure our
users know that members will not auto add to your group if this option is set
until they confirm their email. Many site owners where inviting members to the
group that would have been auto added. Remember members must confirm their email
before joining. Members that manually confirm by emailing our confirm department
will NOT be auto added to a group. At the same time we have added a few updates
that most of you will not notice that cater to making things slightly easier to
use.
Member Logins
We have addressed a security issue dealing with an exploit using JavaScript
to steal cookie info to log into a site without the username and password. While
we want to keep scripting in place for our users to have the most flexibility.
We will be adding some new options that will allow sites to limit the usage of
JavaScript. The new security update compares IP and Hostname information for a
match for the true owner of the account. This really will restrict any existing
exploits that we have yet to discover with logging into the site.
I do want to point out that when a member registers through any site they are
registering a global Spruz or CSM account not an account for access on your site
alone.
Forum update
There have been several requests for us to make changes on the forums. While
we have many plans for a really updated forum system there are other systems
that are more important at this time. That being said we have made some highly
requested changes and updates. They are as follows;
- We have added basic new posts alerts. This means the icons work as
intended. In the very near future we will be placing the Icons that are used
with the forums in the Site directories of all sites to allow you to use
your own custom ICONS with the forums.
- New Basic Search box with search ranking. While this is just a basic box
it is smart and will list the most relevant matches at the top. We will be
adding more options to searching in the large forum update coming last
summer/early fall.
- Forum posting speed has been greatly increased. We have made several
improvements to the code that handles a post request in the forums. You will
notice the time of your posts will be faster then ever!
Many new features that are in the works. The following are features
that are planned for release between June 1st and July 31th
- Full integrated shopping cart with too many features to list. This is
the largest update since we added the new page builder system. You will be
able to sell and earn money by listing products, goods or anything else you
can think of. We will have integrated real time UPS calculations, PayPal IPN,
item galleries, product reviews and much more!
- New Site Elements! Including; Event Calendar, Element Targeted Guest
Book, Site Blog, and integration forum elements to allow you to use the
forums as your site news.
- More member control - Members will now have a home page. These members
are people that register a Spruz Account on your site. They will now have
the option to move from one site to another as make it their home. This will
be a big incentive for sites to make use of our large user base.
- Site Member Searching - You will be able to search for members that flag
your site as there home page within the Spruz Net
