In the culmination of months of planning, we have just released the first build of the new community page on Spruz.com. It already has more information and is more flexible than before, but the best part is it’s fully extensible so you will be seeing more cool stuff on the page as the days progress.
Here’s a rundown of the changes to help you jump right in and start using it.
- The search bar at the top allows you to search all the communities on the site.
- The community browsing has been formatted into a smaller more dynamic tab structure. All the categories and sub categories still exist; just hover over a top level category tab to have access to the categories under it.
- Community highlights are just below the browsing tabs. They show category specific information, such as “Fastest Growing Communities”, “Popular Forum Threads”, etc. They show information based on the category that is selected. (Very cool and fun to browse through) We will be adding more highlight boxes that you can browse through with side to side arrows.
- The browsing and search results have been reformatted to show the relevant information about that community more effectively; including member pictures of actual people in the community with links to their profiles.
All in all, some great tools to bring people and communities together. And even more are coming in the future.

That’s right, you’ve asked for it and it is now available. The new poll element supports multiple polls and unlimited poll answers. It also has easy adding and edit capabilities. You can add it to your site now by clicking the Add Page Element button and finding it in the Form Elements category.
Have fun collecting super important information from your members.

Free Theme Design to Grow Your Community!
To launch our new design services Spruz will be giving away free custom made themes to two upgraded communities.
The rules to qualify are simple. You have to have the Spruz Upgrade. You need to reply to this post detailing what your community is about and why you feel that a custom theme will help it grow. When posting your must include the domain name of your website. Posts from sites not upgraded at the time of the post will be deleted, off topic posts will be removed. We will select the best story on the 28th of November.
We will then choose the two most compelling posts and will have our graphic designers contact you to start on your custom theme.
As an added bonus the two communities chosen will be featured on the front page of www.spruz.com for an entire week!
Only reply to this thread if you have the Spruz Upgrade. If you don’t have the upgrade yet, you can grab your own here: http://www.spruz.com/main.asp?page=dp&dis=625311

Our team of programmers has just released a special update targeted at bringing your Spruz (www.spruz.com) communities closer together, as well as making them easier to manage. An update to your My Account page provides you with a list of communities that you are currently a member of. Next to each community you have the option to go to it as well as the option to leave it if you wish to do so. You also now have the option of setting any community as your home community, which will make your profile default to that community when viewed by others.
Interacting with other users is easier than ever, with one click messaging from your profile page to any of your buddies as well as one click to go to their profile. Just hover over their image to get the options you need or click it to go to their profile.
We have also been working more on the user interface. This update brings a cleaner more refined look and feel to all the dialog boxes.
Spruz (www.spruz.com) communities and profiles are better than ever. As always, have fun, meet new people and send us your feedback to feedback@spruz.com so that we can continue to make the changes and improvements that you are interested in. It is after all you, the user, that makes the system and communities better.

We have been working on support for more elements and element widgets over the past several weeks. A new element that has been added includes the donation element. This allows you to collect payments from your visitors to donate towards the site.
We have plans of releasing several new elements over the next few weeks. In addition we have removed the element restriction. This means you can add as many elements to your site as you want!
In the coming weeks we will be releasing documentation on using our SPI. With SPI you can send information that is collected on the Spruz Platform for use with developing your own widgets. We are very excited about this as it will open the door for more 3rd party development.
Please take some time to visit the elements page to check out some of the new page elements that you can use with your site.
