Diving into CSS
Just out; brand new tools for CSS Design editing. We have just added an Insert Code section to the Design editor's CSS mode main toolbar.

Click the Insert Color button to either pick from a list of colors you have already used in your CSS or choose a new one with the color picker. When you click on a color to insert, the hex color code is automatically placed where you had last selected in your CSS code. This makes it simple to get just the right color you need without having to use another program.

You can also insert image URLs quickly into your CSS code from the Insert Code section. You can either browse the images you currently have in your file manager by clicking the Browse Images button or upload a new image by clicking the Upload Image button. In either case once you have selected an image the URL is inserted into your code where you had last selected. Sometimes it's useful to have the dimensions of the image, so we provide you with the pixel size of the last image in the toolbar for easy copy and paste when and where you need it.

Now that we make it easy to save multiple themes (click the down arrow next to the save button for options), it is the perfect time to start playing around with CSS editing on your site.  And when we complete the theme packaging feature you will be able to save your themes locally as well as share them with others.

Big Updates - More to come!

Today we rolled out an update that not only provides many usability and feature improvements but also sets the stage for some even more exciting additions that will be released soon.

The creation process for forums and forum groups has been revisited to make it simpler and easier to understand. Also in the forums we have added template functionality to the way posts are displayed. You can edit the template for the forum posts in your file manager; it is located in the theme > system_templates folder and is named forum_post_row.txt.  The template supports SPI codes for added functionality. To make your site more user and search engine friendly; the forum thread or topic title is now displayed in your site title bar.

We have re-worked the site intros, which have in the past been a bit problematic. They should now be much more reliable in their functionality.

The Design area is in the process of a significant overhaul.

For advanced users we have updated the CSS Edit view which can now be switched to from the advanced tab of the Design toolbar. Updates to it include live previews when editing, undo and redo, code color coding and auto tab support.

A great new addition to the Design area is the ability to manage multiple themes. You can use the down arrow next to the Save button to access the Save As and Load options allowing you to save as many different versions of your site themes as you want, and quickly switch between them.

As mentioned, the changes here are not only great usability improvements of themselves but also lay the groundwork for some great new features. Here's a quick snap shot of what you have to look forward to:

  • Theme packaging; save and share your themes with friends.
  • Cascading Navigation
  • A huge update to the entire member system.
Update Fixed Top Issues

In this update we have focused on fixing several issues on the site.

We fixed an issue that was not allowing some people to upload profile pictures.  Uploading should now be working fine.  Just click on your current profile image or place holder image in your profile to upload a new profile pic.

We have also corrected a problem with some embedded content causing the IE browser to crash when in the Content editing area of your site administration. All html code should work without causing any issues when editing your site. Custom html code should be used only in the Custom Code Box element.

We have fixed comment deleting. A bug that in certain situations would not allow you to delete comments on your site has now been corrected.

Also, in this update, we have made many miscellaneous bug fixes and performance improvements.

Happy Thanksgiving & Holiday Hours!
Hello everyone, we want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope your holiday weekend will be a good one.

Since this is a holiday week, our office hours will be from 9am until 7pm EDT and we will be closed on Thursday.

As normal, our network is monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

We also have some really good updates due for release in the next 2 weeks after this holiday week.

Some highlights include

Update to the forums to add avatars for topics and some usability improvements, and the custom editing for the post view. The editing of the posts will allow you to change the layout of a post and will allow you to add SPI codes to the forum posts to import other data info on members (Example: Adding custom scripting, display last login info, last post by user, etc.)

Theme Packaging, this will allow you to save theme changes and package them to share with other site owners.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
